Job Description

The Computational Mechanics of Morphology at Notre Dame (CoMMaND) Lab is soliciting applications for a postdoctoral position in the area of brain mechanics. The CoMMaND Lab is associated with the Department of Aerospace & Mechanical Engineering as well as the Bioengineering Graduate Program. Current areas of research include cortical folding and the interactions between brain, skull, and dura mater, both in healthy development and in various diseases and disorders including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Our work includes finite element simulations of growing soft tissues, analysis of medical images, and theoretical analysis of instabilities in soft materials. What we offer:

Minimum Qualifications

Postdoctoral applicants should have a doctoral degree in mechanical engineering, bioengineering, computer science, or related field.

Preferred Qualifications

Candidates with a background in computational solid mechanics and a working proficiency in Abaqus user subroutines and/or Python are preferred. The ideal applicant will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a high level of initiative, and background in biomechanics or mechanobiology in any organ or system.
