Unit Description: The Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit is a 12-bed multidisciplinary 24-hour unit located on the second floor of the hospital. Patients over the age of twelve can be admitted to this unit. The most common types of patients admitted to NSCCU include patients with: cranial surgery, neuro assessments greater than every 2 hours, acute onset seizure activity, potentially life threatening intracranial lesions, acute hypertensive crisis, acute intracranial hemorrhage, post traumatic brain injury, spine injuries/lesions or spine surgical patients, EVD drains, ICP monitoring, triple H therapy, new onset stroke, TPA and acute exacerbation of neuromuscular disorders, disease, acute respiratory failure, acute and chronic renal failure, drug overdoses, cardio-pulmonary arrests, multi system failure, sepsis, and high risk post-operative patients.

Job Description: The Staff RN is responsible for implementing, directing, communicating and documenting the nursing process and provides a safe environment for patients, visitors and associates. The nurse practices in accordance with current established standards of care, the Nurse Practice Act, the Community Healthcare System policies and procedures, and supports the mission and philosophy of CHS.
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Current professional licensure by the State of Indiana Health Professions Bureau.
Successful completion of the The Community Healthcare System's Personnel and Nursing Orientation Programs.
Obtains and maintains current certification as required in specialty areas
Obtains and maintains current CPR certification.
