Under the direction of the Director or Human Resources, the Employee Health Nurse coordinates the employee occupational/workers comp program by developing protocols, reporting and record keeping. Assists with implementation of health and safety education programs in the workplace. Administers direct and indirect care to ill/injured employees and evaluates outcomes in an effort to provide a healthy and productive workforce. Assesses employees injured on the job. Administers nursing care and treatment in accordance with designated Employee Health procedures. Makes physician referrals when deemed necessary. Follows injured worker from report of injury to closure of worker's comp case. Acts as a member of selected hospital committees in an advisory capacity. Case manages Community Hospital injured worker as employee returns to work in restricted capacity. Coordinates all Worker's Compensation cases. Maintains recordkeeping, physician referral, counseling, documentation and follow-up with employees/management. Types insurance reports and enters computer data as necessary.Education/Experience: Graduate of accredited nursing program with current Indiana Licensure, BS degree/Nurse Practitioner Certification preferable or LPN. Minimum of 2-4 years of varied nursing experience, primarily nursing care areas such as public or community health, industrial/occupational nursing or critical/emergent care. Knowledge of adult educational principles.
