Farm Service Agency Secretary (OA) in Indianapolis, Indiana

Summary

This position is located in the Farm Service Agency, Indiana State Office, Office of the State Executive Director (SED), located in Indianapolis, IN

Responsibilities

Manages the administrative functions of the SED's office.

Receives and reviews incoming correspondence, reports, and other documents addressed to the SED, State Office (STO) and the State County Office (STC).

Provides substantive information and resolves problems or inquiries pertaining to administrative operations and policies of the office.

Serves as the liaison between the SED and other STO staff members.

Independently composes responses to requests for general information and prepares letters of acknowledgement and commendation for the SED's signature.

Receives and screens visitors and telephone calls for the SED's office, determining their nature and purpose.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date 09/25/2020 of the announcement including specialized experience and/or education, as defined below. Time in grade: Current federal employees applying for a promotion opportunity must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirement of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled.

For the GS- level 7: Applicants must have one full-time year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-6 grade level) that demonstrates administrative support to coordinate priorities, commitments and program goals of an office. This includes providing assistance for travel, time and attendance, project tracking, program analysis and skill in using various software packages to prepare reports; experience includes coordinating the work of others and independently setting procedures and guidelines for others. For the GS- level 8: Applicants must have one full-time year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-7 grade level) that demonstrates administrative support to coordinate priorities, commitments and program goals of an office. This includes providing technical assistance for travel, time and attendance, project tracking, program analysis and skill in using various software packages to prepare reports; experience includes coordinating the work of others and independently setting procedures and guidelines for others.
