MEDICAL PROGRESSIVE CARE UNIT CONSISTS OF 30 BEDS AND A NURSE TO PATIENT RATIO OF 1:3

Join our family of dedicated, highly skilled nurses. St. Vincent’s Medical Progressive Care Unit (MPCU) is an intermediary step between ICU and the medicine floor. These patients still need a high level of skilled nursing care and surveillance but are more stable than patients in the ICU.

MPCU is not only a progressive unit we are also caring for patients with COVID 19. We have a designated COVID hall and a non-COVID progressive hall.

We have teamwork like none other and have a culture of supporting each other. The #1 response I get from associates when I ask them what is working well...is teamwork. Nursing can't be done without teamwork.

We recently celebrated a nurse that retired from St. Vincent after 18 years. She was a nurse for close to 40 years. We have some really good tenure on this unit, but welcome new nurses too. The leadership team has almost 40 years combined in nursing with the majority at Ascension St. Vincent.

We are below the national turnover rate and continue to be around 18%. Majority of the turnover is related to relocation, new job opportunities (travel nursing), graduating from NP school, or transferring to critical care.

Nurses on MPCU have opportunities to obtain skills that a lot of units do not. They have opportunities to get NIHSS, ACLS, IV U/S trained, SBFT placement, ABGs, precepting, mentoring, and charge nurse opportunities. They will gain so much knowledge and skills as well as develop professional and personal friendships.

PATIENTS WE SERVE:

Our patient population is a large variety of diagnosed patients with multiple comorbidities: Diabetic Ketoacidosis, Sepsis, Respiratory Failure, CIWA, Unstable GI Bleeds, Acute DVTs.

Experience preferred: Minimum of one-year clinical nursing experience as an RN in an acute care setting.

St. Vincent Medical Progressive Care unit is located at 2001 W. 86th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46260 is hiring Part-Time, Night Shift - RN - 7:00PM – 7:30AM, Sunday – Saturday; Full-Time (24 hours) a week; scheduled every third weekend and every other holiday. What You Will Do

As an Associate with St. Vincent Health-IN, you will have the opportunity to provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Implements and monitors patient care plans. Monitors, records and communicates patient condition as appropriate.

  • Serves as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.

  • Notes and carries out physician and nursing orders.

  • Assesses and coordinates patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.

What You Will Need

Licenses/Certifications/Registration:

  • Required Credential(s):

  • BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date.

  • One or more of the following:

  • Registered Nurse credentialed from the Indiana Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

  • Registered Nurse credentialed from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

Education:

  • Diploma

  • Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing required

Work Experience:

  • None required.
