With this innovative spirit, the laboratories of Cellular and Molecular Toxicology in partnership with Diabetes and Complications therapeutic area at Lilly in Indianapolis, Indiana have an immediate opening for a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to establish and qualify state-of-the-art liver and kidney microphysiological systems (MPS, organs-on-a-chip).

Specifically, this scientist will have responsibility for establishing normal and disease state renal MPS and advancement of our hepatic MPS platforms. Organ system characterization, qualification and translatability will be tested using a vast collection of preclinical small and large molecule legacy data. Output from this research will be used to advance internal drug discovery and development approaches while impacting the broader scientific community through high impact publications.
Ultimately, these MPS will be utilized to improve translation of scientific findings from preclinical models to human clinical systems.
This unique cross-functional position will benefit from a matrix laboratory and bioinformatic environment with access to scientists and research associates from across different fields of drug discovery and development. - PhD degree within biology, cellular or molecular biochemistry, physiology, toxicology or related fields.
Strong experience with (i) human primary cell culture and stem-cells (iPSC) for liver and kidney studies, (ii) 3D models and/or (iii) MPS or organ-on-a-chip technologies preferred.
Experience using basic biochemical and molecular biology techniques and fluorescent imaging is critical to the success of the proposed research.
Knowledge of bioinformatics is an advantage.
Independent research skills such as designing, executing and interpreting experiments, as demonstrated by previous publications along with excellent written and presentation skills.
