Mid America Clinical Laboratories Patient Care Provider Rotator in Indianapolis, Indiana
ROLE OVERVIEW: In cooperation with the Patient Care Provider Field Operations Supervisor and Group Leader, the Rotator performs all specimen collection procedures, processes samples and completes requisition form. Works in a PCC Fields OP's location or multi person location collecting samples, handling paperwork and processing specimens. May be only one person at site or rotate to many sites. Maintains a professional and positive demeanor that contributes toward excellence in servicing clients and patients. The standard of ethical and professional performance must be consistent with established medical laboratory practice and demonstrate the philosophy of Mid America Clinical Laboratories. EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Minimal requirements must be met to fulfill Primary Role Responsibilities. These requirements are reflected in the Experience Required and Skills Required sections as well as on the Physical Requirements and Environmental Worksheet. High School education or equivalent; training or certification in phlebotomy; minimum of a training course in phlebotomy or one year experience performing venipuncture on all types of patients including geriatric, pediatric and chronically ill. Good verbal and written communication skills; excellent interpersonal skills. Must have computer skills and pass data entry test. Mid to extensive experience level, moderate to extensive customer and client contact or responsibility, broad scope of duties, limited supervision required, work is complex and problem solving skills are required. Handles paperwork and computer functions. Is able to work alone or as a Rotator. SKILLS REQUIRED: Ability to communicate and service customers independently and ethically with focus on the customer. Ability to work in a team and help anyone in the team when necessary. Able to organize, maintain and document information on the patient both in a computer and on manual requisitions with an eye to detail. Demonstrate advanced knowledge of phlebotomy and specimen collection techniques in order to provide services appropriate to the age of the customer served. Diverse in being able to work different shifts and different locations.
