JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for the review and analysis of risk presented on individual applications for the Global product.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Review new business applications
Ask for and follow up on additional information needed for new business applications via phone, or email including:
Request medical records
Statement of Health
Premium authorizations as needed
Waiting on signed Flex or Pre-ex Riders
Previous Coverage Letter
Transfer Form
Eligibility
Confirmation of Info/additional info
Review medical records
Propose exclusionary riders and/or rate ups
Issue coverage with riders and/or rate ups
Decline coverage where needed and issued notifications regarding decline to offer coverage
Review Renewal forms
Review Renewal Change requests to ensure within guidelines
Calculate Rating based on any change requests
Ask for and follow up on additional information needed for renewals including:
Affidavit of Eligibility
Confirm residency
Confirm premium elections
Statement of Health
Affidavit of Eligibility & Audit Affidavits in 2nd and 3rd year renewals
Decline renewals where necessary and issue notification regarding decline
Answer emails from insured, agents, or internal staff regarding cases in the underwriting process.
Review reinstatements, obtain any missing information, and write report for UW manager to review for reinstatement approval or decline.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Minimum of 3 years? experience related to individual underwriting in an insurance environment
Strong analytical, risk-assessment, and problem-solving skills
Extensive background in medical terminology
High attention to detail
Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
Self-motivated individual with proven ability to maintain positive attitude while working in a fast-paced environment
Ability to interpret risk based on application information received
Computer skills and proficient in operating common office equipment
Working knowledge Office 365 products ? including Excel
PREFERRED SKILLS
BA/BS in Insurance or related field is a plus
Insurance industry experience working with major medical products a plus
