The Director Pharmacy Benefit Program and Clinical Pharmacy Specialty Services position is located in Indianapolis, IN.

Job Duties

The Director Pharmacy Benefit Program and Clinical Pharmacy Specialty Services oversees the administration and coordination of the pharmacy benefits for all internal and external customers of Community Health Direct and develops the clinical pharmacy strategy for specialty care. This includes analysis of pharmacy and medical claims data, development of medication utilization protocols and provision of pharmacy services in a collaborative manner, working to optimize member pharmacy benefits, and managing the relationship with the pharmacy benefit manager (PBM) and external consultants. This position will provide oversight for ambulatory care clinical pharmacy specialists and strategic growth strategies for expansion of clinical pharmacy specialty services to facilitate clinically appropriate and cost effective medication use in areas such as pulmonology, rheumatology, anticoagulation clinics, women’s health, infectious disease, and cardiology.


  • Five (5) years of experience providing ambulatory clinical pharmacy services within a health network required.

  • Five (5) years of managed care experience preferred.

  • Previous clinical pharmacy leadership experience preferred.

  • Proficient in reviewing and interpreting medical and pharmacy claims.

  • Previous experience with PBM implementation preferred.

  • Knowledge of formulary, medical and pharmacy claims systems.

  • Proficient in drug literature and clinical trial evaluation.


Graduation from an ACPE-accredited college of pharmacy required with PharmD. BPS Board Certification strongly preferred. Residency, Fellowship or applicable pharmacy leadership experience required.


Licensed as a Pharmacist by the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency.

  • Experience in developing and implementing new processes and improving existing processes, including clinical services.

  • Experience working effectively within a team environment.
