The Director of Infection Prevention position is located in Indianapolis, IN.

Job Duties

The Director of Infection Prevention (IP) is responsible for the development and ongoing oversight of a comprehensive IP program that is evidence-based, forward thinking, and patient-centered with the goal to optimize the clinical care and services provided to patients such that the chances of inadvertent infection are minimized. The IP program is designed to support the Network’s expectations of quality through development and oversight of systems and structures supporting care that is appropriate and effective in delivering patient oriented outcome and experiential success with a high level of reliability and efficiency. The role supports outcomes and performance structures that are clinician-lead and oriented around delivery of care in all healthcare settings.

This leader provides oversight of all IP related activities at all sites of care, both acute care and ambulatory care. The role partners with others in the Quality department to ensure regulatory requirements are met, data metrics are achieved and reported, and provides leadership and mentorship for direct reports. In collaboration with the Executive Director Quality, the Director IP is responsible for the development and monitoring of the operational IP program budget.


Seven (7) years of experience with at least five (5) years of hospital infection control experience required.


Master's degree from an accredited college or university in nursing, other health-related field or health administration. In lieu of a master’s degree, candidates with 10 years of leadership experience in healthcare infection prevention & control may be considered.


Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid license to practice in the state of Indiana as listed in the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC). Certified in Infection Control (CIC) by the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology, Inc. (CBIC)
