Technical Trainer Histology
The Technical Trainer Histology is responsible training of Study Technicians in the post life area of Animal research. In those role you will train and evaluate technician on areas such trimming and embedding of tissue, microtomy and/or slide review on multiple species. In addition to technical training duties you will perform necropsy and/or histology task on a variety of laboratory animals in compliance with the appropriate SOPs, GLPs, and regulatory guidelines, duties for this position include but not limited to;
Assists Histology Management team in the execution of departmental training needs
Develops, plans, and provides basic technical training (hands-on and classroom) to new employees entering the laboratories.
Ensures training of new and existing technical staff is consistent, thorough, and documented through Certification Records.
Evaluates the technical skill competency levels within the department and provides training as needs are identified.
Assists to determine departmental training needs and recommends/implements appropriate action.
Judges and determines technical competency within department and issues appropriate documentation.
Ability to provide constructive feedback and serve as a coach or mentor to less experienced staff.
Responsible for the departmental training to ensure consistent and well documented data and training records.
Performs necropsy and/or histology tasks on a variety of laboratory animals
Supports, complies with, and enforces EH&S Policies.
Supports the development of training materials.
Daytime work hours, requires working every 3rd weekend
Bachelor’s Degree or Associate degree in Life Sciences, Animal Science or Veterinary Technical preferred. Related work experience may be used in lieu of educational requirement.
At least 18 months experience as a study technician in anatomic pathology services within Covance and/or at least 18 months in a animal research setting performing histology work.
