Job Duties: This position will split duties between MA/LPN role and Scribe duties:

MA/LPN: Under the supervision of the designated manager, the Licensed Practical Nurse or Medical Assistant Scribe provides care to designated patients in collaboration with Registered Nurses and providers in accordance with established policies and procedures. This position performs duties associated with direct patient care and quality improvement activities. Assures completeness of ordered procedures and treatments, instructs patients concerning procedures, treatments and needs, and ensures medical orders are carried out accurately and in a timely manner.

Scribe: The primary role of the Medical Scribe is to assist providers with documentation of patient encounters into the electronic medical record in accordance with regulatory guidelines.

Performs all clerical and information technology functions for a provider in a clinic setting, including primary responsibility for the operation of electronic health records and electronic dictation systems. Primary goal is to increase the efficiency and productivity of the provider. This position will have no direct involvement in patient care. Must be able to anticipate provider needs to facilitate the flow of clinic. Must be discreet, tactful, and unobtrusive in performance of duties so as not to distract medical staff from patient care. Good judgment, organizational ability, initiative, attention to detail, and the ability to be self-motivated are especially important. Must be adaptable and versatile.

Position Qualifications

LPN

  • Current license as Licensed Practical Nurse (or Licensed Vocational Nurse) issued by the Indiana Health Professions Bureau.

  • CPR certification.

  • Experience in a medical office (family practice) setting is preferred

Medical Assistant

  • Graduate of an accredited career/vocational school with a medical assisting degree, certificate or diploma or completion of basic or advanced EMT course.

  • Must hold active AAMA/CMA/RMA Board certification or pass exam given by any credentialing agency for medical assistants to be considered a "credentialed medical assistant or hold an active EMT Certification.

  • Colleague has 6 months from time of hire to become certified MA (AAMA, CMA, or RMA)

  • Must maintain license, certification and or credentials in good status to perform required job duties.

  • CPR certification.

  • Experience in a medical office (family practice) setting is preferred

  • Bilingual candidates must pass a Spanish Exam prior to receiving $1.00 per hr bonus
