Under a Registered Occupational Therapist's supervision, plans, and carries out programs of purposeful activity designed to assist in the rehabilitation of psychiatric, orthopedic, neurological, pediatric, surgical or cardiac patients as prescribed by the physician; bases selection of activities on the physician's prescription, history, experience and interests of the patient; plans and directs special diversional, educational or social events for patients as applicable in the rehabilitation of psychiatric patients.
Must be a graduate of an Occupational Therapy Associate Degree program from the American Occupational Therapy Association.
Must be certified as Occupational Therapy Assistant, to practice in the state of Indiana, or be eligible for licensure. Must be certified in CPR by American Heart or American Red Cross; or must become certified within first three months of employment. Must maintain certification on a yearly basis. If assigned to drive company vehicle, a valid driver’s license is required. If assigned to drive personal vehicle, proof of insurance is required in addition to a valid driver’s license.
Work experience preferred, but not required other than clinical experience within educational training program.
Must be able to lift 50 pounds, assist with 100 pounds, may be required to push/pull up to 300 pounds.
