Parkview Health Police & Public Safety Trainer in Fort Wayne, Indiana


The Police & Public Safety Trainer, in conjunction with the Chief of Police/Corporate Director of Public Safety is responsible for coordinating all training and education for police and public safety personnel and In-service trainings in order to maintain compliance with state mandates for required training hours. This position will:

  1. Complete monthly summary of training activity.

  2. Work closely with the Deputy Chiefs regarding Use of Force to identify gaps in policies and trainings to ensure our officers are trained in best practices.

  3. Continue to build relationships with local law enforcement trainers.

  4. Review and assess current training effectiveness and design benchmarks for future training effectiveness, making recommendations to the chief based on current trends and best practices in law enforcement.

  5. Coordinate, develop, facilitate, track, record, approve, and report all trainings conducted by police and public safety personnel on behalf of Parkview Health within the department, the health system, and the community at large.

  6. Coordinate and conduct the Essentials of Aggression Management training across the health system for Parkview co-workers.


  • High school diploma/GED required. Associate's degree or greater preferred.

  • Valid Driver's License required with no or minimal infractions. Certification as a trainer in the Non-Violent Crisis Prevention program being used by Parkview Health is required within ninety (90) days of employment. Certified law enforcement officer through the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy Training Board - required. Certified Law Enforcement Primary Instructor through the Indiana Law Enforcement Training Board - required within 6 months of accepting the position. Certified in 1 (Preferred 2) of the 3 Psychomotor Skills of instruction through the Indiana Law Enforcement Training Board: Defensive Tactics, Emergency Vehicle Operations, and/or Firearms - Required within 6 months of accepting the position.

  • Minimum 5 years law enforcement experience required.

  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to lift, push/pull up to 70 lbs. Demonstrates ability to multi-task and work independently using critical thinking skills. Must be able to work flexible hours and on-call as assigned and must be willing to travel to all Parkview Health Facilities as needed.
