ABOUT THE POSITION:
The Licensed Practical Nurse under the direction of a Health care provider or registered nurse (RN) contributes and participates in competent, evidence-based care, and performs technical treatments in providing care to an assigned group of patients. The LPN participates in decision making, teaching, mentoring, and collaboration with the multidisciplinary team to advance the patient plan of care/interventions, achieve outcomes and enhance operational efficiency. The nurse adheres to the American Nurses Association Scope of Standards of Professional Nursing and the Code of Ethics for Nurses.
Monitors patient status effectively and efficiently to ascertain needs and evaluate patient response to the plan of care/changes in condition.
Skillfully and efficiently provides safe, age appropriate patient care within established legal parameter toward stabilization.
Implements orders/plans of care designed by the health care team.
Communicates patient outcome/response to nursing interventions/patient care to the appropriate health care provider.
Collaborates with members of health care team in providing for patient/client, family education and participation in health promotion maintenance and restoration.
Provides patient with an explanation of treatments and/or procedures before they are initiated.
Performs technical procedures including but not limited to sterile technique, venipuncture/IV start, and use of specialty equipment.

EDUCATION AND /OR EXPERIENCE:
Certificate from college or technical school upon completion of practical nurse program required.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS:
Indiana license as a Licensed Practical Nurse required.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through American Heart Association (AHA) required within 30 days of hire.
