THE ROLE:

Hillrom’s electronics spend, one of the largest across direct material, is growing along our acquisitions. We have an immediate need to expand our team with a Global Sourcing Manager – Electronics. S/he will be responsible for setting the multiyear category strategy to meet business needs, risk mitigation, contracts, and compliance. The Manager will maintain a healthy project value improvement practices (VIP) pipeline targeted at 10% of spend, while driving cost, delivery, and quality performance as well as managing supplier relationship, supplier agreement and risk management with a focus on supply base design, and driving segmentation strategy.

Role is global and interacts with corporate sourcing leadership, operations leadership, and plant management. S/he will have Independent decision-making skills with high understanding of global sourcing and electronics manufacturing industry as well as a high understanding of market conditions of electronic components change and end of life (EOL). S/he will manage supplier relationships and build trust.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:

The Global Sourcing Manager – Electronics is an individual contributor (no direct reports) who reports directly to the Director Global Sourcing – Electronics and Electro-mechanical. S/he will interact with local and corporate management from operations, manufacturing, quality, engineering, finance, etc.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Sets and communicates the strategy for the category.

  • Manage optimal procurement arrangements/methods for consolidated commodity requirements driving year over year cost reductions and utilizing life cycle and total cost analysis where applicable.

  • Be the primary contact for key suppliers within your commodities and develop a working relationship that drive a reliable supply chain at competitive prices.

  • Maintains a healthy VIP pipeline via sourcing workshops, total cost of ownership (TCO), and value analysis and engineering (VA/VE) activities.

  • Communicates and presents opportunities and risks of the category to upper management, site management, and peers.

  • Create and manage strategic supplier partnerships to ensure continuous performance expectations are met and year over year productivity targets are achieved by conducting proper supplier management techniques.

  • Partner with key internal stakeholders to understand requirements and drive global, Value based year over year sustainable sourcing strategies across the categories to ensure quality, valuecost optimization, service performance and business continuity are developed and sustained.

  • Keep current on categories market, cost drivers and economic outlook to guide strategy.

  • Leads the transformation of the current supply base – i.e., reduce number of suppliers while increasing the number of strategic and preferred suppliers.

  • Electronics & Electromechanical category is the largest supplier spend in the Hillrom portfolio.

  • Manage spend and related supply base in support of site, division, and corporate goals (cost, quality, delivery, people).

  • Responsible for overseeing the development and execution of holistic categories strategy.

  • Create and manage strategic supplier partnerships to ensure continuous performance expectations are met and year over year productivity targets are achieved by conducting proper supplier management techniques.

  • Managing the portfolio requires unique technical and management skills to meet the required business needs.

  • 20% travel expected.

LOCATION:

The role is located at our global, corporate headquarters in downtown Chicago, IL or US Hillrom facility in Skaneateles Falls, NY, Cary, NC; Acton, MA; St. Paul, MN; Milwaukee, WI; Batesville, IN. No relocation. Consideration will also be given for remote/virtual work.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree is required; engineering, business, or supply chain fields is ideal.

  • ISM, CPM, APICS or CPIM certification is desirable.

  • Ideal candidate will have 7 years of direct experience in the electronic components sourcing, and highly connected to key players/suppliers in the field; medical device industry experience preferred.

  • Proven success in negotiating contracts that deliver robust supply chain solutions and tangible cost savings on an annual basis.

  • Electronics commodity experience and/or strong technical aptitude relating to these categories.

  • Leading VA/VE efforts and drive continues improvement.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.

  • Communication, ability to influence others.

  • Global mindset with experience working in an international/multicultural matrix environment.

  • Must have a balance of both strategic and operational performance.

  • Experienced negotiator.

  • Ability to listen, engage and influence internal and external stakeholders.

  • Highly selfmotivated with the ability to drive change in a global organization.

  • Strong technical and commercial experience in the related categories.
