Cummins Behavioral Health Systems, seeking candidates with a background in social work and/or mental health care, to a stimulating career as anHIS Auditor. TheHIS Auditorbased inAvon, IndianawithinHendricks Countywill be under the supervision of the Chief Compliance Officer and is responsible for:ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Audits medical records for proper documentation.Ensure compliance with legal and procedural policies and to ensure optimal reimbursements while adhering to regulations prohibiting unethical practices.Researches, analyzes, and responds to inquiries regarding compliance, inappropriate coding and billable services.Communicate with the Quality Improvement Team; provide information on progress, actions and issues in a timely manner.Communicates with Cummins staff regarding billing and documentation policies, procedures, and regulations.Ensures strict confidentiality of consumer medical records.Other duties as assigned.KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:Knowledge of auditing concepts and principals.Advanced knowledge of medical coding, billings systems and regulatory requirements.Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced, changing environment.Ability to use independent judgement and to manage and report confidential information.Ability to analyze and solve problems.Demonstrate ability to self-motivate, set goals, and meet deadlines.Maintain courteous and professional working relationships with employees at all levels of the organization.Demonstrate excellent analytical, critical thinking and problem solving skills.Skill in operating a personal computer and utilizing a variety of software applications.Knowledge of JCAHO, coding compliance and HIPAA HITECH standards affecting medical records and the impact on reimbursement and accreditation.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:Associate's degree in Health Information Management or health related field.Minimum of 3 years of medical and/or behavioral healthcare experience.Clinical documentation experience and credentials highly recommended.BENEFITS:Competitive salariesExcellent work life balance (paid time off and holidays)Professional and Leadership Training and advancementDiverse career tractsComprehensive insurance packageClinical support from leaders in fieldMatching contributions to your 401K programCumminsis one of the State's top-rated community behavioral health and addiction providers in Customer Satisfaction as recognized by theIndiana Division of Mental Health and Addiction.To learn more about this opportunity, apply today atwww.cumminsbhs.orgWe're an equal opportunity employer.
